Based on the words of Boris Kochno, The Prodigal Son draws its inspiration from the famous biblical parable. This narrative ballet is a very powerful innovative and expressionist piece, with sets and costumes by Georges Rouault that are reminiscent of Byzantine icons. As for the choreography, it has lost nothing of its modernity and evocative strength.
